You should definitely be involved in the 3 biggies: Twitter, Facebook, and LinkedIn. Google+ is pushing into new directions (as seen in the "Ripple Effect" video here). You can get even more creative with Flickr, Instagram, Pinterest, Quora, Vimeo and YouTube, interactive web sites, podcasts, forums, etc.
